My Blogging Fast is Over!

Wow! It feels great to be back in the blogging world. You would think since I work for a blog design company, I would be a blogging maniac...but no. Here are the reasons why I haven't had ANY time to blog in the past four months:

#1 I've been busy cheering for my talented husband on the turf.

#2 school, work, and play (mostly play)

I've been busy creating a VERY unique talk show at SUU. I better not forget to introduce you to one of the coolest people I've ever met. Meet Kelsey. She's my co-host and has quickly become one of my best friends. You'll be seeing a lot more of her because we're basically connected at the hip. Well, more like her hip is connected to my knee but that's a different story.

#3 I was hired to be the "on-court personality" at the athletic events.

I am the one who plays games with contestants during the time-outs. This has definitely helped me overcome my fear of speaking in front of people. Ok, it really hasn't but I can dream, right?

#4 Random visits from friends.

# 5 Being a wife.

This is the Place

The best part about being in SLC for the summer is visiting the places I used to go to when I was younger. My parents were constantly taking our family to historical places in Utah and teaching us about our ancestors. My sister Rachel came over today with her two boys and we decided to visit This is the Place Heritage Park. I have been babysitting my nephew Bryson all week so I brought him along for the ride too.

This was Brigham Young's Forest Farmhouse. My Mom grew up in the neighborhood this home was originally built in. It was relocated to This is the Place Heritage Park 33 years ago.

My Mom asked me to stop by her school to play some kick ball with her students. My sister, nephew, and Dad all came to help. It took the kids a few tries to figure out what to do and where to run but it sure was fun to help them play. Did I mention I stole the pictures from my sister's blog? Thanks Erin! :)

The Hinckley side of the family took a trip to Moab to start the summer off right. Abbel and I spent almost a month apart so it was sooooooo nice to see each other. It was also nice to spend a few days with the family all under one roof. It brought me back to the days growing up... being the youngest of seven...in a small house...no bedroom...no food...no clothes...ok maybe not the food and clothes part but it definitely was so nice to be with each other. Special thanks to Heather for planning it all! When can we go back?

Home Away From Home

Our three year wedding anniversary was on Sunday and we spent a day and a night in Mesquite with all of the old fogies. Our trip mostly involved sleeping... for real. It was sooooo worth it! Abbel and I pulled so many all-nighters during finals week so it was nice to finally recharge our batteries.

I spent Sunday night packing my clothes for my summer internship (ABC 4) and it finally hit me that I will be away from Abbel. So weird! I may or may not have cried a little...

But I made it to SLC safely and I'm back in my old room at my parents house. It still feels like home.

Today was my first day on the job and I seriously can't wait to go back. I will post more about it later when I'm done with training. I already LOVE IT!

NAB in Las Vegas

I will be the first to admit that I'm a nerd. A big nerd. When it comes to new technology and media, my mouth waters. A group of us broadcasting students hit the streets in Las Vegas on Tuesday at the National Association of Broadcasters Convention, aka the nerd convention.


This is a virtual news studio. It's on my Christmas list.


Here's another virtual set. They are both in two different studios but are seen together conversing in one.

We were asked to play some ball by a company who shoots in 3D. The glass building that you see in the video had t.v. screens and 3D glasses for everyone to watch us in action. I am so glad that I was able to show the world how to shoot an air ball. It takes skill.

Some good news at ABC 4

With having only a few more classes to take upon graduating, I have been anxious to do an internship. I was able to get an internship interview with ABC4 and KSL5 while I was in Salt Lake for my niece's baptism and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.

I first went to the ABC4 studio with my sister Erin to watch the Good Things Utah talk show. I was in heaven walking into the studio and seeing the set. After watching the show, I met with Dan Metcalf who interviewed me for a news internship. I was greeted by a not so lovely test about current events and to my surprise, I actually did well. Dan said that he's never seen so many internship applications this summer so of course that made me nervous...really nervous. But he showed me around the entire facility from the control room to the break room and I was smiling ear-to-ear the entire time.

I am happy to say that I was offered the internship and I start in just a few weeks!! Abbel and I will commute to see each other at least twice a month (he has to stay in Cedar City for summer school, work and football). Even though we're sacrificing the time we could share with each other during the summer, I know this will be greatly beneficial for my career and I can't wait to start!

Zyan's Baptism

I had the privilege to witness my niece Zyan get baptized on Saturday. She is such an amazing girl and she has always felt like the little sister that I've never had. It was truly amazing to see her enter the waters of baptism and to see her so clean and pure. Way to go Zyan!

Abbel & I spent Thanksgiving in Salt Lake with the Hinckleys. It was so relaxing to get away from our school work for a few days. We are so grateful for our wonderful families, friends, and the Young Single Adult Ward that we serve in. We are truly blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives.

Always being on time is something that I have learned from my Mom. I remember arriving to appointments 30 minutes early as a child and always complaining for having to wait. Little did I know, I would adopt my Mom's same way of thinking.

I would rather wait, than have someone else wait for me. It's that simple.

I was called by a classmate today to meet her in the library. She needed help with a project and wanted to meet in 15 minutes. So I hopped in my car and took the normal route to campus but...

3-0 in conference play

SUU football is on a 3 conference game winning streak which hasn't happened since the year 2000. There is one more conference game remaining for the Thunderbirds this weekend against UC Davis. If they win the game, they will be the Great West Conference champions. I am crossing my fingers and toes that SUU will pull it off. The team has worked so hard this season and really deserve it.

SUU played Wyoming for their first game of the season and lost 21-28. I was expecting Wyoming to blow SUU out of the water but I was really impressed with the talent of our team this year. Now that our summer vacation is over, it's now time to hit the books and the football field. This semester has been so different for me already. I am at the point where I choose to be at school studying rather than being anywhere else. Instead of watching t.v. I'd rather read a book. I sit on the front row in my classes taking notes and soaking up as much as I can (knowledge that is... not my professors' saliva as he/she speaks).

Abbel's brother Anthon flew from Missouri to visit us for a week. He plays football at Missouri Southern and let me tell you, he tears up the field when he plays.

Whenever I say the word "hike" to Abbel he changes the subject immediately. Anthon on the other hand was the one to mention he would love to go on a hike. YES! So yesterday for Memorial Day we went to Kannaraville Falls. I have hiked it once before and knew this was the place to take them. Here are a few pictures of our hike.

Abbel proposed to me on the Dixie rock in St. George, Utah. We wanted to go back for every anniversary. Unfortunately, we have failed to do so-we are 0-2 in athletic terms. We were able to attend the National Junior College softball championship and decided to visit the rock after the games...finally!

A new calling in a new ward

Abbel & I were called into the Stake President's office a couple weeks ago. The only strange thing was, it wasn't our Stake President. We knew something drastic was about to occur. As we met with three amazing men, they extended a calling to Abbel in a student ward here in Cedar City. Drum roll...He will now be the 2nd counselor in the bishopbric.

We grinned ear to ear as we heard the calling and were overcome with emotion. What a great opportunity for the both of us! I know Abbel will give 100% in all he does and I will support him 100%. He is such a great example of hardwork. He is a full-time student, plays football for the university, and now is a member of the bishopbric.

After two Sundays pass in our new ward we already have a couple funny stories. Since it is a single/student ward, everyone there is on the look out for a future husband or wife. Abbel lost his wedding ring a week before his new calling. (OH GREAT!) The day he was set apart he was meeting some girls who were just called to be in the Relief Society Presidency. Of course the girls look at his left hand and no ring. After he gets to know them he bring up a story about me, his wife. The look of excitement fades from their faces as they learn he's married. Sorry ladies!
This past Sunday, I was wearing a very bright GREEN dress. As Abbel and I were walking to Sunday school two boys approached me and this is how the conversation went:

Boy #1: That's a GREEN dress.
Me: Why, yes it is.
Boy #1: I mean, I like it. It's a nice green dress. (Huge smile)
Me: Thank you, I like it too.
Boy #1: Hi, I'm Mark and this is my friend Michael.
Boy #2: Hi. (Huge smile and blushing red cheeks)
Me: Hi
Awkward pause and we take our seats (they sat a few rows in front of us).

Abbel's Mom and brother came to church with us and witnessed everything. They could not stop laughing that I was getting "hit on" in front of Abbel. After the two boys took their seats, boy #1 took a look back at me and noticed my tall, muscular husband staring right back at him. Right then he put two and two together and told boy #2. After they both laughed at themselves they told their other friends who happened to be girls. The girls looked at me then looked at Abbel and started laughing.

Lesson #1: Always hold hands with your spouse whenever in a student ward.

About a week ago, we ventured to Flagstaff, AZ for my brother Jake's graduation at NAU (He received his Masters degree). It was so much fun to spend time with family! We even explored a couple museums for fun...

On May 8, we had our 2nd wedding anniversary. We were lucky enough to spend the day with our family (The Hinckley side). We watched a cowboy show and then hopped on a train and took a ride to the Grand Canyon. While on the train, we were entertained by a few of the cowboys we saw in the show, including one who hit on me. Abbel almost knocked some teeth out.

As we arrived at the Grand Canyon, we couldn't believe what we were seeing. It looked surreal!

Easter Sunday

Abbel and I spent Easter weekend in Salt Lake with the Hinckley side. We enjoyed listening to the wonderful conference talks, resting, and visiting with family. My parents also took Abbel & I to dinner for Abbel's birthday that was a week prior .

On Easter Sunday, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at Zack & Heather's home and Abbel was of course terrorized by Zyan and Chazz.

This past week was SUU's Spring break and we needed a little trip out of Cedar City. My idea was to be with family in Salt Lake but Abbel wanted something different. Of course I listened to my husband like any good wife would. :) He chose Las Vegas as our desination. We hitched a ride with our friends Jared & Sara(who helped him come up with a Vegas trip). We stayed in the Planet Hollywood Hotel and the rest is history. Sorry, Abbel didn't punch a drunk man. Good title though right?

Treasures of the Pacific

Each year, SUU hosts a Polynesian night showing off their dancing from Samoa, Tonga, Hawaii, New Zealand, & Tahiti. Abbel & I, along with our good friends were asked to do a couples dance. I never thought that our dance practices would come to an end. We spent a couple months practicing and I can now take a deep breath that it is over. The funny thing is, I really miss it! I told Abe that I want to be in more than just one dance next year (we'll see how that goes). We were lucky to have Abbel's parents come the first night and my side of the family drove from Salt Lake for the second night. It was so fun to have them witness what we worked so hard on. Thank you all for coming! It really meant a lot.

Culture Day in the 435

Abbel & I were asked to set up a booth for cultural day at East Elementary School's parent teacher conference. Abbel rounded up a few up his Samoan buddies and they did a fabulous job. Each student received a "passport" with about 12 different countries on it. Around the gym were booths just like ours, but representing various different countries. The students were then to ask each booth a little bit about their culture and they would receive a stamp on their passport. It was such a unique idea! I helped the Italian and United States tables make candy necklaces because they were short handed. I wish I had Abbel take a picture of the children swarming to our table for candy. Luckily an hour into the event, we ran out of candy. Halleluiah!!! I happened to wear my work out attire which is a good thing because we were all sweating like pigs.

Thanks to all of you who helped us out tonight. It was a ton of fun!

A few weeks ago, I ventured to Salt Lake for my nephew's birthday and for a wedding reception. Abbel wasn't able to make it due to football but it's always nice to drive alone every once in a while (I like to call it TAY time). Here is my cute nephew Brock blowing out his candles.

The Holidays with the Hinckleys

This year, we spent Christmas and the New Year with my family (the Hinckley's). Not all of the family were in town this year but it still was a lot of fun. The picture below is us on Christmas morning. This was actually the only picture we took on Christmas unfortunately.

For the New Year, we were invited to our cousin Matt & Maria's beautiful home for the second year in a row. Each year continually gets better and we are already looking forward to next year's party. Here we are playing the game Werewolves of Miller's Hollow. Even the kids got into the game.

My mom always has such great entertaining ideas. All the kids dressed up and came down the stairs to festive music showing off their unique fashion. The kids did it last year as well but they decided to spice it up a little more with dancing and it sure was hilarious!

They have an indoor gym in their house and Abbel always enjoys busting a sweat and competing with everyone.

Abbel & I went along with my Mom and Sister Erin for birthday shopping. Little did we know, we would be stopping by a quilt store afterwards. I of course did not mind it one bit but Abbel and Bryson definitely weren't too excited to be there. Abbel and I decided to play some fun games while we waited for Mom and Erin to purchase their fabric.

This is Bryson's hiding place. Wasn't it good? It took me quite a while to figure out that he hid underneath the dispay tables. I'm so glad we didn't end up getting kicked out of the store. :)

We haven't moved, but we should probably start paying rent at SUU's library. We have spent more time there than we have at our own home this semester. During finals week there is a computer lab that is open 24/7 and we have had a couple "sleepovers" there. Isn't it lame that this is the best post I could come up with over a period of one month? Yes, we are boring and nerds. Here is a picture of the "nerd dome".

Halloween

This year for Halloween, we borrowed our costumes from my sister Erin. Abbel and I are not big fans of Halloween, so the thought of buying something new just for a few parties did not intrigue us one bit. Disneyland & California Adventure

This past weekend, my mom and I had a great time in California. I was invited along to push my mom in a wheelchair and I have to say, that was one of the hardest things to do physically. I forgot how BIG Disneyland is and then on top of that, California Adventure is somewhat big as well. Even though I was sweating non-stop, mascara running down my face, and my muscles aching, I definitely had a great time! My mom was invited to go along with my brother Zack and his family. I enjoyed watching their kids soak up the parks. It was so fun watching them and seeing how excited they were to be there just like I was when I was their age. Here are a bunch of pictures that I took. Just remember that I was very sweaty, that's why I'm not in many of the pictures.

Jedi Training-I don't really like Star Wars but this show was one of the highlights of the trip.

Chazz & Zyan were both lucky enough to have been chosen to fight against Darth Vader. They were taught a sequence of moves to use against the bad guys. It was quite hilarious to watch.

Northern Arizona Adventure

This past weekend, SUU played Northern Arizona University (NAU). My brothers Isaac & Josh decided to drive down from Salt Lake to pick me up and head to Arizona. My oldest brother Jake, drove from his home in Tucson and met up with us in Flagstaff for the game. He brought along his two cute sons Matani and Naish and they definitely made the trip more fun.
Unfortunately, SUU came home with their second loss in the season (The final score was 42-39).
Thank you Jake, Josh, Isaac, Matani, and Naish for supporting Abbel! It was nice to see all of you...especially the kids.

SUU's first game & win of the season

Last Thursday, Southern Utah University played Dixie State and the final score was 36-7 favoring SUU. Abbel played the entire game, made four catches for the total of 32 yards. It was a very nice win for the Thunderbirds. Last year, they received a brand new coaching staff and have been doing very well since. The next game will be this Saturday, playing in California. GO ABBEL!

School and football are our lives...bummer

The 2009-2010 school year is in full session now and so are football practices. Abbel survived three weeks of football camp and begins his season playing Dixie State College. They believe it will be the stadium's largest crowd because Dixie is only fifty miles away. It should be a school record in attendance. We are both taking a ton of classes at SUU and are really enjoying them. Abbel is an accounting major and I am a communications major so our discussions at the dinner table definitely differ from one another. While I talk about my day, Abbel falls asleep, and when he talks about his day, I wonder how accounting possibly interests him. I guess that will keep life interesting.

My sister Erin and her son Bryson visited us this past weekend. It was a very fun visit full of fun activities. Here are a few pictures of the "Watermelon Bust" that SUU football puts on each year. I failed to get any pictures of Erin but I promise she was there.

Football camp starts this coming Monday so it was our last free weekend together. Jannelle & Daryl invited us and Holly & Fesi to go to her family cabin. We enjoyed riding the four wheelers, smores around the campfire, and board games.

Our Summer Getaway

Abbel and I ventured to Chicago this Summer to visit his sister Sina. It was such a nice time to relax and see the exciting things that Chicago has to offer. Here are a few pictures of our time there.

We enjoyed watching Chicago's local channel 7 station Live.

The cost of this "bean" was 27 million dollars. Many people were outraged to spend precious tax dollars on such waste as they like to call it. When we finally arrived to view it, it started raining and there was even lighting. That's the reason for no one close to the structure.

We took a water taxi to the Navy Pier which was my favorite part of the trip. Travelling by boat through the city was definitely a "must do" if you ever go to Chicago.

Family Reunion 2009

Our family reunions are always fun looking forward to. This year, our reunion was held in Plain City, Utah with a a cowboy theme. Since the temperature was torturous, I enjoyed sitting under a tree almost the whole entire time.(AKA party pooper) Atleast I was able to snap a few pictures of the event. For months, Abbel has needed a new phone. He has been begging me for an iphone forever and I finally gave in. I didn't care too much for iphone's until I had it in my hands. OH MY! It seriously can do anything and everything. We don't have internet at home but his iphone sure does. I sit in the car checking emails, look up directions, and watch YouTube videos. I have been converted! My Blackberry seems like it's from 1995 compared to Abbel's new phone.

A FUN weekend with Bethany

A few weeks ago, Bethany decided she would visit us when Isaac was at training camp. His training camp was this past weekend and it was so much fun having Bethany visit. We drove to St. George to shop and we came home with a few bags in hand. We also enjoyed playing guitar hero like usual and hearing about Bethany & Isaac's cruise. Thanks for coming Bet! It's always fun having you here.

FYI: Abbel is no longer the "house wife." He is taking two summer classes, lifting with the team, and working at The Home Depot so he doesn't have time to clean anymore.

Now that it's summer, I asked Abbel if he'd be willing to get a second job or increase hours at work. I have been working about 55 hours a week total between both of my jobs so I'm exhausted. I let him take about two weeks off since he has been working his butt off in school, football, and work. Now that he's had enough time to rest, I gave him two options. Number one, increase your hours at The Home Depot...or become the house wife. Guess what he chose??? That's right, the "house wife." Our house SPARKLES! I love that whatever I ask him to do, he does it without complaining and 100%. Thank you Abbel! You're a stud.

Once again, we received a FEW things(few is definitely an understatement) from my mother-in-law. She called Abbel saying that she's sending us a package with some "goodies" in it but I wasn't expecting this. WOW! Now we have a year supply of just about everything from dish detergent to granola bars. My work was called asking if we could gather some volunteers to paint a home behind our local hospital. This home is for the families of cancer patients so they can be within a walking distance of the hospital. Today was our first day painting and we just did primer. Each week we will spend a day doing as much work as we can. I will post the final project soon.

This past weekend my dad had an athletic directors conference in St. George and stayed at our home. This is a yearly event and Abbel and I were lucky enough to be invited to the dinner. The first time I attended was my senior year where I received a scholarship, so it was nice to be in attendance once again. This year my dad ran for President and won! He also received TWO awards of meritorious service...one state-wide and one with the U.I.A.A.A.(Utah Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Assoication). I am so proud of him and his accomplishments. He is the most humble man that I know so it's very rare that he let me take his picture holding his awards.

My mom drove down for the weekend as well and we enjoyed shopping and watching movies. She is famous for discovering stores that I've never seen in my city, especially the pawn shops and antique shops. I loved having the company and so did Abbel. I unfortunately didn't get any pictures of my Mom but take my word for it, we had a lot of fun. Thanks Mom!

My sister-in-lawBethany called me on Saturday night bored out of her mind and decided to take a three hour drive from Salt Lake to hang out. She has always been very spontaneous so her idea didn't shock me one bit. She arrived to Cedar City about an hour after my parents took Abbel and I to dinner. We enjoyed catching up, painting our nails, and shopping in St. George the following day. I love getting to spend time with her and it is always fun having a girls night out every once in a while. Thanks Bet!

Spring Break 2009

Abbel & I enjoyed the first few days of our spring break at home throwing the softball, watching movies, and relaxing. We then headed up to Salt Lake...

...where we went to an Elmo themed party for our nephew Bryson.

We also visited our newborn niece, Zoey. We enjoyed riding the bikes that Zack and Heather just bought. Even though we didn't go anywhere tropical for spring break, it was well spent with family in Salt Lake. I'd do it again any day. Thanks everyone!

This past Saturday was such a beautiful day in Cedar. Definitely not as nice as Jake & Michelle's weather in Tucson, but it was perfect to get all of our cleaning done. For New Years, we had a huge family party at our cousin Maria's home.(Which was beautiful) We ate, played games, played basketball in their indoor sport court, and just enjoyed each other's company.

Months ago, Erin, Bryson, Rachel, and Brock drove down here to visit and left this little red car that belongs to Bryson.(That was months ago) Well, even though Bryson probably doesn't miss it or even remember it's his, I thought I would be nice to take it back to him. I've made three trips to Salt Lake last month with the mindset of dropping off the car before I went back home. Each time, I seemed to forget to bring it into their home or forget to take it out of my purse...(Somehow it always seems to get burried under things in my front seat or in my purse) Then about two weeks ago, I took another trip up I thought I would be smart and just take it to my mom's house so she could give it to him. This past weekend, I was in Salt Lake again and I saw the car at my mom's house still. I offered to take it to Bryson since I was going to sleep over there. I put it on my front seat without anything around it so I would definitely remember to take it into the house...While cleaning out my car this morning from my Salt Lake trip, guess what I found??? Yep, you guessed it! Bryson's red car. I couldn't help but laugh because it somehow keeps making its way back to Cedar with me everytime. Maybe I should just mail it. Haha.

If you're wondering why all of our post are random, maybe you should remember that:

2-We don't have any children to blog about
3-We always forget to bring the camera when something exciting happens

We had the pleasure of having Dad and Ike visit us this weekend. They helped fix my car and they attended Abbel's football game.(SUU won 14-7) It seems like everything that we own started breaking this week. First my car, then my washer was leaking, and the disposal wasn't working quite right. My dad is such a handyman. He noticed the disposal wasn't working so he got down on his knees and started working on it. Thanks DAD! Thanks to Ike too for helping with the car. We really appreciate it!

Last Saturday, Southern Utah flew to Texas to play Texas State. SUU flew back home that night with smiling faces due to their victory against Texas State. (34-20)

2 Yards short

SUU played Northern Arizona University(NAU) this past Saturday for their homecoming, and fell short in the end. The final score was 19-14 in favor of Northern Arizona. Abbel did amazing and had an awesome catch that was just shy of a touchdown.(Diane, you would have been proud) His friend Jared Ursua later scored the touchdown to bring SUU ahead 14-13. We were looking forward to the win but Northern Arizona came thru at the end with another touchdown. SUU kept fighting and ended up on the 2 yard line. Arizona's defense was strong to hold them on the line and later caught an interception with 23.4 seconds remaining. Maybe next time...

Vegas Anyone?

After almost a whole week of having a horrible cold, it was nice to take a little trip to Las Vegas. I was still feeling a bit sick but going to Vegas definitely took my mind off of everything. It was a nice little trip since Abbel's been working so hard in school and football and we rarely see eachother. Abbel's highlight of the trip would be the food we ate at the Bellagio. Abbel insisted on eating at a buffet before we left. I'm not a huge fan of Buffets, but the one at the Bellagio was absolutely amazing! Not only was the food mouth watering, the environment was like no other buffet we've been to.

Kanarraville Falls

One of my friends from work and I both had yesterday off so we decided to hike Kanarraville Falls. This one is a must see for those who come visit us next. Kanarraville is about 15 minutes away from Cedar and the hike was absolutely amazing! Be prepared to get wet and to climb!
I couldn't help but take pictures every step of the way. Living in Cedar definitely has it's advantages. I love having this right in my back yard!

In order to get to the top off the falls, you have to put your fears aside. I'm not afraid of heights but climbing the log to the right in the picture above made me think twice about my fears. There was a ladder attached to the log but you NEVER know how sturdy things like that are. Luckily, it was very sturdy and I made it up like a champ and so did Carrie.

Although, I was supposed to have work off, I was called and asked if I could fill in for one of the other employees who called in sick. After saying yes, I knew we'd be short on time. We headed back down to our car so we weren't able to make it to the top of the falls.

Abbel's First Home Game!!!

This past weekend was SUU's first home game. They played Adam's State and beat them 38-7! Good Job SUU!
The Hinckley family came to watch and so did Abbel's parents. It was a lot of fun having family come down to watch Abbel in action. A special thanks to Abbel's parents for making an awesome meal for everyone after church on Sunday. Thank you!

Football Season Has Begun!!!

Many of you think that Abbel is a really quiet and reserved guy...well, he's quite the opposite when he's at home. Tonight I haven't stopped laughing because of the mood he's in. He's been running, jumping, and singing around our apartment. It's probably due to the fact that he plays against Air Force on Saturday and can't wait to do so. We both got home at about the same time tonight for a change. I carried in groceries to make dinner and he carried in all of his NEW football gear. As soon as he came into our place, he sat on the couch with a huge smile and the most energy I've ever seen him have. He starting taking out each item and holding it up for me to see. I was in the kitchen preparing him a very greasy meal(recommended my the coaches to gain more weight) and he starts with his new cleats. He showed me his practice cleats that he's been wearing...(which almost made me gag from the odor) Then he showed me his game cleats, pants, pads, shirt, and gloves. With every item he pulled out, out came a smile and I could tell he was imagining himself playing in the game already. It was the cutest thing ever!

The best part was that I caught him in the bathroom with his helmet on looking in the mirror. I was on the phone with my sister Erin when I witnessed it and I couldn't even talk to her because I was laughing so hard. I tried taking a picture of him in the mirror but he wouldn't let me. He wore it around the house for a good ten minutes or so and even asked if he could sleep with it on.

Ok, so this is quite embarrassing for me but Abbel keeps reminding me to post it on here. So you all know that I work at The Home Depot down here in Cedar. Well, I swear I'm always there working and so for the past month or so, I have dreams about talking with the customers and I talk in my sleep. Abbel wakes up everytime to hear what I have to say. He busts up laughing everytime because I will say,"Your total comes to 24.97... Will you be putting this on your Home Depot card today?" A few times I actually got angry with Abbel because I didn't know I was dreaming and was really trying to search for a SKU(a six digit number) and wanted him to help find it. I was lifting up the covers and wanted him to search on the side of the bed. Then another time, I remember waking up one morning and I was pushing my finger into my pillow like I would on a register. Maybe I need to see a psychiatrist for this one. haha!

Football season is starting and SUU's football team is in the middle of a camp. They have to stay as a team in the dorms which means I don't see Abbel much anymore. The hour or so I do see him is while I'm working or when I'm at home but about to go to work. I believe there will be two more weeks left of camp but we know the hard work will pay off. Abbel says the team looks pretty good this year so practice really does pay off. I can't wait to see him in action on the field and can't wait for family to watch with me.

Abbel is now a server at Chili's and he's loving it! He enjoys coming into my work and telling me how much in tips he received that day which is the cutest thing ever. I went to Chili's for my lunch break today and sat in his section. I loved watching him in action and seeing the smiles he brought to the guest's faces.

The Renaissance Festival & Car Show

When we were driving past the Renaissance festival deciding whether or not to go, I saw this guy with a twenty foot long snake and I had to see it. I'm not a big fan of snakes but this one really appealed to me for some reason. We caught up with the guy and I had to atleast touch it. He wanted me to hold it but after lifting up just the head part, I declined because that was even too heavy. He said he feeds him rabbits and even chickens. The Shakespearean festival was just like Farmers Market up in Salt Lake with the shops and even more. It runs throughout the summer until the beginning of October I believe so I'll most likely make another stop there before it ends.

We wanted to find a Chevy just like the one my dad has and take a picture with it but had no luck finding one with four doors like his. Many were very similar to my dad's and we loved looking at the cars to see how awesome my dad's will look one day.

Our 4th of July in Cedar

This was our first 4th of July married and we weren't too sure what to do especially since we're in Cedar City now. I went online and looked up activities in Cedar, St. George, and even Vegas. We decided just to stay in Cedar City and go with the flow. We don't get a lot of time with each other anymore because of our various jobs, so we wanted to spend all the time we could with each other. After eating a good 4th of July dinner, we thought and thought what we would do next...Abbel remembered there would be fireworks that evening by the airport. We ate, and ate, and ate until it was time to go to the airport to watch the fireworks. We found a great place to sit all by ourselves and waited for them to start. While waiting, a few cars pulled up blasting RAP music and parked right in front of our view. They all piled out of the cars drinking beer and sat right in our view of the fireworks. I couldn't help but laugh because they blocked our view and the fireworks were going off to beat of their music. Maybe next year we'll have more luck.

Josh's Birthday

Josh's Birthday was the 20th of June but decided to celebrate it a week later on a Sunday with the family. It was after the passing of little Mac and we weren't too sure how the mood would be that day. We all shed tears as we watched the video my sister Erin made but were all at peace with everything and knew that we might as well enjoy the company and celebrate Josh's Birthday. The Hinckley's and the Maughan family all came and we enjoyed a great BBQ and enjoyed eachother's company.

Abbel & I have been touched so much by baby Mac and his example to everyone. He was too perfect for this world and we can't wait to be with him again.

Josh & Cali have been so strong thru everything. They both have strong testimonies and know they will be with him forever.

Isaac & Bethany came to visit this past weekend and we had a lot of fun. We first went to see the petroglyphs that my parents took us to about two weeks ago but we wanted more adventure. So Isaac looked thru a Cedar City book full of hikes and we decided to hike to Hidden Haven. It's about a one mile hike each way and it took us to a few water falls. Since it was such a HOT day, they all decided to stand under the freezing water fall. Enjoy the pictures!

Mom & Dad were our first visitors in Cedar City and it was a lot of fun hosting them. Since Cedar City isn't a big city at all, and I barely moved here, I couldn't think of anywhere fun to take them. If you know my mom, She's a pro at finding fun things to do on a slim budget. She went to the Chamber of Commerce and picked up a few magazines of fun places to go. We decided to drive to Parowan(15 min away) to see the petroglyphs.

After trying to take the back way to the Parowan Gap and getting lost, we tried the main interstate. It was fun doing a little four-wheeling with mom and dad in mom's jeep. :)

It's always an adventure going places with my parents.

I went thru the temple for my first time last Saturday and it was such an amazing experience. This Thursday is our BIG day and we can't stop smiling. All the planning is done so we can sit back and enjoy.

CEDAR CITY HERE WE COME! We'll be moving to Cedar on May 12th and we invite everyone to visit. :)
